Alan Tilles represents clients involved in all areas of technology, from wired to wireless, from historic to cutting-edge.
As counsel to hundreds of municipalities, private carriers, wireless trade associations, private radio system users and radio manufacturers for over forty years, Alan has led the way on many wireless initiatives, primarily in land mobile radio. With his expertise in all things wireless, Alan has grown his telecommunications practice over the years to include the latest technological advances, including Smart Cities and Smart Building initiatives.
Coupled with his background in radio and extensive experience in public safety communications, well as antenna tower issues, Alan provides clients with holistic and comprehensive consulting on wireless matters. More than mere contract review, he provides direction and advice in a collaborative atmosphere that enables clients to lead their respective industries.
On behalf of public safety, transportation, and other incumbents, Alan spent fifteen years working on 800 MHz interference caused by Nextel’s (and later Sprint’s) operations. He negotiated hundreds rebanding agreements on behalf of these entities, helping to end the danger posed by adjacent channel broadband operations.
Amongst his current projects, Alan is working on 900 MHz relocation agreements, resulting from the FCC’s decision to permit this band to be used for broadband operations, primarily by Anterix.
Alan co-founded, and serves as counsel to, the Government Wireless Transportation & Communications Association (GWTCA). The organization is a non-profit that represents public safety, transportation, and other government services agencies before the FCC on a variety of wireless and wired communications issues.
Alan brings years of extensive experience in wireless matters such as:
- Public Safety Communications
