Alan supports entertainment clients including musicians, actors, writers, entertainers, producers and industry-related vendor companies. A musician and former talent agent, Alan has written extensive articles for music industry magazine Goldmine on Tower of Power and the Average White Band, which was included on AWB’s DVD release. He also served as Executive Producer for the Tower of Power 40th Anniversary DVD and for a music project for singer/songwriter Kat Parsons.
In addition to Tower of Power, the roster of entertainers which Alan has worked with on a variety of issues includes five-time Grammy nominee Ambrosia, and Washington, D.C. area favorite Deanna Bogart. Alan consulted with the estate of legendary guitar player Roy Buchanan, original Tower of Power trumpet players Mic Gillette and Greg Adams, original Heart members Howard Leese, Steve Fossen and Mike DeRossier, Average White Band sax player Fred Vigdor, the Young Dubliners, Mighty Mo Rodgers, Michael Miller (writer of the theme song for the TV show Solid Gold), singer Jason Malachi, and the sons of actor Adrian Zmed, on their music projects. He has also reviewed contracts involving appearances by Tito Jackson (of the Jackson 5) and Fab Morvan (of Milli Vanilli).
Beyond music, client representation includes one of the nation’s foremost close-up magicians, Jamy Ian Swiss, and astronaut Cady Coleman. Alan has also reviewed and provided counseling on numerous TV, film and book projects. This work has encompassed negotiating contracts for client appearances on national TV network reality shows.
As a musician, Alan has appeared on stage with a wealth of Classic Rock artists, including Ambrosia, Marty Balin (Jefferson Airplane), John Ford Coley (England Dan & John Ford Coley), Orleans, Gary Wright and others. In 2018, he appeared on the CD by East Bay Soul, featuring former members of Tower of Power and in 2020 on Joey Molland’s (Badfinger) “Be True To Yourself.” As an actor, Alan has appeared as the Secretary of the Interior on House of Cards, and in several area TV commercials.
Alan has also organized a band, The Fine Print, which performs at the annual Washington, DC charity competition event, Law Rocks. The band has won the event as best band three times. Here’s an article by the DC Bar Association written about the event.
